QuikVue Vet Case Share - Severe Blepharitis

01/30/26

We are glad to share a vet case study captured by QuikVue eye imaging adaptor from Dr. Allison Fuchs.

Have you heard of a disease called blepharitis?

Blepharitis is a blanket term for inflammation of the eyelids, and this dog has a VERY severe case. He was initially diagnosed with a mass in the right eyelid and surgery was planned, but it worsened significantly and he was referred to me for further diagnostics and treatment.

Blepharitis can be caused by a variety of infectious, neoplastic, and immune mediated causes. It is important to rule out infections and cancer before treatment for immune mediated causes, because treatment for one can worsen the other if you are wrong. This dog had a full workup and has been treated for 2 weeks as immune mediated blepharitis, and if you scroll to the 3rd and 4th photos you can see how good he looks now! We’ll continue to maintain him on immunomodulatory medication.
